HOTTTTT!!!!!!!
OMG!!! These boots are fire!!!! They add an edge to any outfit. I definitely did not have a problem getting these boots on. I bought my regular size which is a 7 1/2. These are my second pair of frye boots (I have the belted harness in brown). I think I may like these a little more. I cannot wait to wear these out. For those of you who are at odds on buying these let me make the decision for you: BUY THEM!!!!

Nice slip ons but requires socks
I have trouble ordering shoes on-line so I tried these on in the store in a different color and then ordered the color I wanted from Amazon.
These are very comfortable and easy slip ons.
These are not meant to wear without socks however. The way the heel hits with the leather or rubber just at the base of your heel gave me blisters when I didn't wear socks. The low cut also meant that dirt and gravel could find its way into the shoe. Additionally the insert would come out if I didn't wear socks.
Overall it's a very comfortable lightweight shoe. It just is meant more for walking on sidewalks rather than gravel paths or the beach.

Oh. My. God. Mine at Last.
The Frye Harness Mid-Calf 12R in Tan? Well what can I say? I am one satisfied woman thank you very much. And for someone who's never had a shoe fetish--I've had the same pair of shoes for a decade--I'm beginning to grow an obsessive love affair with Frye products.
First understand that this is the first time I've ever bought shoes on line and for [...] bucks (+ shipping)....? Really ouch. But my god. Heaven. Not only did they come super fast but exactly as the pictures showed. Plus I am the world's pickiest shoe buyer hence 10 year old shoes...
I'm barely 5'3 pretty short but I've got stocky legs and large calves. And while I fell in love with the boot style while abroad in Greece and enviously saw how the Greek women could pull it off so well I just couldn't find a pair that fit over my large calves (which is about 14-14.5" circum). After two years and I swear a million tries I decided what the hell go for the expensive Fryes. And I hate shelling out dough for shoes. Hate. It. But...
Once I saw these had to have. And boy nearly perfect. Feminine but tough looking solidly built and nice thick leather. I still can't get over it. They fit over my calves about mid-calf just as it's supposed to though just a little tighter than I would have liked. But after months of wearing there's now enough room so that there's no pinching. Considering most boots that go past the ankle not to mention my he-man calves was always a no-go for me well...I was more than pleased. And I've been told by others that they wear and stretch wondrously. The toe is a little more narrow than I'm used to and the heel a bit roomier. I have a wide foot so I got a half size larger. And surprisingly I walk just fine and not too much movement or shifting. They're incredibly sturdy on ice or even soft areas even stiff and unworn I felt awesome. The leather is supple well crafted AND made in the good ol' US of A so I felt really patriotic flashing these around. N.B. These days everything seems to be outsourced to a different country some Fryes (especially the tall boots that go past low calf)are made in Mexico so the sizes can be tricky.
Also I've always had a wide foot so that's why the toe is a little more narrow than I'm used to but while others said the size was a bit larger for them for my wide feet perfect. The narrowness will break in your feet--what I mean is that if you have a wide foot that bone that makes up your pinky toe will get a little sore after repetitive wear. If you wear them sporadically and not daily or often this will persist so get your feet used to them and walk around in them for awhile. Afterwords it'll feel like your those shoes were made for your feet!
Someone mentioned the weight yes a bit heavy but easy to get used to if you wear them on a regular basis Once you break in the shoes and your shoes your feet it's smooth sailing and it doesn't take long. Either way didn't deter me in the slightest. Also thick socks will help fill the space if you have a wide foot like I do and you are forced to get a half size up but get breathable socks your feet will stay plenty toasty. This is paramount for the warmer weather get socks that have breathable construction or light weight specially made for warm/hot weather.
If you check their site these boots aren't listed and the nearest ones to them were nearly [...] bucks alone. When I went to the only store out of god knows how many (and I tried a few on and that's how I knew the calves would be wide enough) the ones that were similar to these were also priced around [...] bucks. And knock offs why bother get the real deal. When I compared the two at the store the difference is so obvious it's obscene. Even I who buy cheap cheap shoes was blown away by the quality and craftsmanship. That's what really bowled me over seeing them feeling them and weighing them in my hands. Real shoes people. Real. Shoes.
And I wasn't aware of it but several of my aunts and uncles have only worn Frye boots and absolutely swear by them. They last forever when taken care of and even if you're a bit lazy still last. You just can't go wrong. One my uncles has had a pair for almost 20 years and the leather is nice and soft with a nice worn look from over the years and molded perfectly for his feet and legs.
Care - Remember if you're wearing them all the time and on hard surfaces the heel and soles will wear quickly. So have a good shoe repair place in mind otherwise the boots will be ruined--forever. To soften up the leather clean it and to protect it use saddle soap once a month. If the calf circum is too tight you go to your local shoe repair shop and ask them to stretch them out. You can do it yourself but I wouldn't risk it not unless you know what you're doing.
All in all. A new obsession has bloomed and it's called F-R-Y-E. And I'm already thinking of buying another pair...

Great light weight shoe !
I purchased these shoes after looking at dozens! Most were heavy and oddly shaped and very clunky. This shoe is light weight and actually fits nicely to the foot....perhaps a wider foot would find it uncomfortable but I am a medium width and it was a good fit. I did go a size smaller for the best sizing. I used the shoe the first time for trekking in the Galapagos islands. The terrain there is rocky landings were often wet we were always getting on and off the zodiak and lava was a major was ever present on our walks. The shoes were comfortable they provided excellent support and they dried quickly. These things were very important to me since I had sprained my ankle just before arriving on the islands. For the 12 days that I wore these shoes my ankle never bothered me.

I can walk again!
I was told that I needed orthotics -- the price was well over $500. Then I found these amazing Merrell Encore Breeze shoes with an orthotic design made just for women built right in. They have taken care of all my foot problems and they have saved me money! I own two pair (black and beige) and plan on buying more. Everyone comments on how cute they are. Thank you Merrell Shoes for making this wonderful shoe. I can't wait for the Fall/Winter styles to come out! Best of all I walk without pain in my knees and feet now.

Comfortable!!
I was interested in this sort of a heel when MBT first came out but decided to wait and see if the price would come down. I was thankful to see Skechers a brand that I trust. Ordered two pair white for work (I am a nurse) and the black for casual wear. They are cushioney great for long walks and a great buy!

I bought these specifically to wear while riding my bicycle because they are mesh and keep my feet cool. I also like that I can wear them without socks.

Great Quality
Purchased these boots for my fiance they look great. They fit well and the sizing runs a little loose. In the winter time with thicker socks they fit perfect they keep her feet warm and dry. She recommends them to her friends all the time.

well worth the money
The Mephisto Allrounder Namera boot is light extremely comfortable warm and waterproof. I also like the height (goes up to the knee)and it is fully lined. I needed a waterproof boot for long walks with my dog in all kinds of weather. I made the perfect choice. I own quite a few winter boots. The Allrounder is by far my favorite. The reviews advise to order a half size up for a proper fit. I did so and the boots fit perfectly. I am so impressed with the Mephisto I intend to order the Allrounder waterproof shoe.

I am in love!
I have been in love with this boot for years. Have logged in many hours trying to find one similar to the veronica slouch however frye is a bit out of my price range. Came across this STEAL and could'nt pass it up. I have never been more pleased w/ any purchase let alone an online one. Amazon is my new best friend. Customer service is stellar and my boots arrived the next day. I havent taken them off since I opened the box. Since I have tried them on about 600 times I new they would fit perfect (very true to size) but I did'nt now they would be so comfortable. I also have the frye harness. Veronica much more comfy. Leather is butter soft and foot bed has lots of padding. (its an all dayer)I have large calves (15.5") and they fit them fine. You can adjust the shaft opening to fit smaller calves. So to summerize...If you've considered this boot BUY IT!!!!!! you wont be disappointed.

Not as Comfy As It Should Be
I have this in yellow. It's as cute as can be BUT it is not very comfortable. I kept it because it's cute but COle Haan is not as good as they used to be. After two new pair this year I am not buying any more. I found that they are running wider in the M width than they used too and this particular shoe runs a tad short. No more Cole Haan forme !

great boot - a few gripes...
My first pair of Fryes!
I ordered the dark brown calfskin. They are a lovely deep dark leather nice and tall (I am 5'6 and they come right up to my knee.
I really like these boots however I have a few gripes. I read another review somewhere where it was mentioned that the upper flap needs to be reinforced or else it will fan out on the sides making it look wing-like. Upon just wearing the boots a few days I realized this to be true. When I brought my 2 - day old shoes into the shoe repairman to have the reinforcement done he tried to talk me into also replacing the soles. I declined telling him they were brand new and that I wasn't going to replace the soles of a brand new boot. He looked at the thinly soled bottom with skepticism and informed me that he would see me in a few months for repairs to them anyway.
And sadly he is right. The soles aren't holding up very well and I do alot of walking around the city. This feel especially disappointing as Frye is known and respected for it's craftsmanship and durability over the years - let alone months!
My final gripe about these boots are that my skinny jeans do not fit so well when tucked inside. The boots are fairly fitted to my leg however with plenty of room for jeans. Unfortunately my jeans just bunch up giving me serious baggy knee - a problem I don't have with other boots. For me these are better with leggings and dresses - and to that point I really do love the way they look.

Great Stylish Boot.
I love the look of this boot. I do recommend ordering a size up especially if you have wider feet. The boot is pointy/narrow at the toe. I normally wear a 7.5 in Frye shoes but had to order an 8. I ordered both sizes to try and while I stuck with the size 8 the boot shaft was looser. Not a big deal if you like that loose fit. Works with skinny jeans and leggings. Very comfy.

now I know why everyone loves Uggs
I have never liked the look of Ugg boots but when I saw these I fell in love. Because warmer weather is soon to come I couldn't wait and ordered them without trying them on. A couple things to consider: order a half size down (I usually wear a 5 1/2 or 6. The 5 fits me perfectly) and if you have normal sized or large calves you may have a difficult time fitting in them.
I am finding this more and more of a problem. I used to be very thin but as I've gotten older I've filled out. I am still very petite but when I started becoming more active (and by that I mean walking to the coffee shop and riding my bike in the summer) I found that I no longer fit into many cute boots. It's very frustrating and sad. It makes a girl feel like she's large if she's not anorexic. But that's a rant for another day and forum.
I did manage to stretch these out after a few days of wearing them and working the zipper up a little a time. I can't wear thick socks if I want to wear these but with the plush lining who needs em?
Besides that small issue (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars) I do love them. I've gotten a lot of compliments on them already. They are very soft comfortable warm and cute. Now I see what all the hype was about.

Too wide and too big!!
I'm 5'5'' and these boots are not for anyone petite. They came up to my knee and they run HUGE!! I am normally a size 8 but after scooting my foot up all the way to the front of the shoe I could still fit my fist in. If you are petite and you do not have large calves these shoes are not for you. The opening is very large. It is for someone taller I'd say 5'8'' and above. However quality of shoe is very good and I love the look I just wish they would make them for shorter people. I returned them and am still searching for the perfect brown boots :(

Frye can do no wrong.
Frye is world-renown for shoes made in the good ol' US of A. They're not only commendable in quality but durability and versatility. Wear them with skirts pants even shorts and you'll be looking good year round.
The Engineer 12R Boot-Gaucho is the only Frye boot I own that I actually got the the size I usually wear rather than the half size larger I usually have to order them in. That's because the toe is rounded rather than the typical box toe that Frye is know for and allows for my wide feet and fits easily and comfortably.
With the arch support and cushioned sole and the lightness of the boot is the second thing you'll notice after admiring the wonderful thick leather and the two buckles that help with fit over the foot and around the top. The buckle for the calf area is sewn in parts with a lip attached to the side to give the wearer a tighter or looser fit and it will fray. I've only had these for about ten months and I had to have my shoe repair guy resew that strap back into place. No biggie. The cost will vary like getting the heel replaced so shop around make friends with a reliable shoe repair person. Fixing minor failings and heel replacements are necessary when the leather will far outlast other parts of the shoe thought it shouldn't be a heavy burden--just regular maintenance on a shoe that'll last you for decades.
The leather is nice rich mahogany color and will scuff but it won't look bad and will eventually fade. Most of the Frye boots are notoriously heavy and can chafe the toes and heel as a result. You won't get that from this boot it's made for specifically for comfort. They're 12R but they're actually slightly lower in front and rise slightly upward at and angle at the back of the calf. Subtle but clean. The thick heel is cushy and give good traction (especially in snow and ice) and easily replaceable when the time comes--so as I always say make friends with the nearest shoe repairmanor woman! They can also treat the leather for weather or to just clean them up when they get dirty or to soften the leather but I just use saddlesoap every once in a while and make sure they get a good clean here and there.
I wear them with any kind of sock but ones that a bit slippery since there are no handles to tug on to get them on if you wear thicker socks.
All in all if you got distance to walk in this boot is perfect you'll look good walking all the way there!

Awesome boots
These are great boots. Sturdy and slightly clunky but without being too casual or manly. The toe is rounded but not as blunt as the Campus boots making these more versatile and classic. The heel height is manageable even if you walk a lot. Be prepared for a long-ish break-in period as these boots are made of thick real leather including the soles. A little slippage in the heel area is a good thing. It'll go away once you've broken these in. I found these boots to be true to size. I initially ordered them a half-size smaller after reading a number of reviews here and elsewhere but found them to be WAY too tight and nearly impossible to put on. Definitely go with your normal shoe size unless you happen to have very narrow feet and thin calves (I have normal width feet and athletic calves). I might have to get the shaft stretched a little so that I can tuck jeans into these but otherwise I'm very happy with my purchase. I can tell right away that I'll be wearing these for years.

Timberland Women's Lexiss Street Boot -- 'These boots were made for walkin'
Based on other's reviews of this boot I was leery of buying without being able to try them on. What may help others interested in this boot is the following: I am 5'10" and am very athletic (full contact sparring in Tae Kwon Do; other sports). I have 17" calves wide feet high instep and a flexible/flat arch. I have had foot surgery (bunionectomy) so I am very careful about the types of shoes I wear.
I have never ever been able to find a boot that fit my claves. This boot FITS!! The top of the shaft falls about 1.5" below my knee. I wear tights with them and had to work at getting the right boot zipped up the first few wears but they are fabulous leather and have relaxed a bit (I can even wear sock liners with my tights for extra warmth).
Because I am curvy and athletic I don't know that I'll ever be able to tuck my jeans into the boots but I really don't care. They are comfortable warm have survived a pretty rugged midwest winter with lots of snow/ice/arctic cold blasts. I wear them with skirts (short or long) dress pants & jeans fall/winter capri-type pants. If I could sleep in them I would. If I had a million dollars I'd buy a pair in every available color. I've searched for a boot like this for at least 3 decades -- These babies totally ROCK! They may not be the classic shiny leather rider's boot but I certainly feel a little Nancy Sinatra coming on :)
